Biographie :
Biologiste américain, représentatif de la problématique des conséquences écologiques complexes liées aux contaminations biologiques. Celles-ci ne peuvent être mises en évidence qu’à travers des programmes consistants, pluridisciplinaires, entrepris avant et après les introductions de nouvelles espèces.
James Cloern est régulièrement invité par le Laboratoire des Sciences de l'Environnement Marin (Lemar), rattaché au Département des Sciences de l'univers du CNRS et à l’UBO (Université de Bretagne Occidentale). James (Jim) Cloern is a senior research biologist at the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California, where has led a team investigation of San Francisco Bay for 3 decades. The study is designed to understand how coastal ecosystems function, including responses to natural and anthropogenic processes. Jim was a member of the committee of international advisors for the Programme rade de Brest, and is currently chercheur associated at the Institut Universitaire Européen de la Mer / UBO. He has served on the editorial boards of Limnology and Oceanography, Estuaries, and Oceanologica Acta. He has mentored 11 postdoctoral scientists, served on thesis committees of 12 graduate students, is Consulting Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Stanford University, and has been Lecturer in the Earth Science Department at the University of California-Santa Cruz.
